A Thought on Thankfulness
As we read through verses like Ephesians 5:20, Philippians 4:6, and 1 Thessalonians 5:18, we are reminded to give thanks in all things. But does this mean we are to be thankful even for the evil and difficult things that happen around us?

This is a thought-provoking question. While it’s not easy to be thankful for the evil or hardship itself, I believe the key is to be thankful in those circumstances. We are thankful to God for His grace and presence, even in times of trial. It's about recognizing God's work in all things—what He is doing in us and through us during these times.

Consider that when Paul wrote these letters, he was in prison for his faith. The rulers and authorities at that time were certainly not good, yet Paul remained thankful for the grace and strength God provided in those circumstances.

This season, I’m especially thankful for the time we have together as a family. We celebrated our Thanksgiving dinner a few Sundays ago, and today, even though our engaged and married children have other plans, we are still blessed to be at home with each other. I’m planning to smoke some bacon today and maybe bake some cookies or try something a little more exotic as well.
